PURPOSE: Understand the use that is given to lower and upper-case letters

Word Association                                                                   

Sometimes the simplest ideas turn out to be surprisingly effective and word games don’t get any simpler than word association. Give an initial word, for example, banana and each student takes it in turns to say a word which they associate with the previous word. If the connection isn’t obvious, challenge the student to justify their choice.

Read the definitions. Then classify the words accordingly.
•Ask Ss to remind you what a noun is: A noun names a person, place, thing or state.
•Tell Ss that nouns are divided into common and proper. Read the definitions. Next, divide the class in groups of six. Have groups classify the nouns in a chart. Monitor and check.
